The process begins with
an inventory of the plants in your yard. What trees, shrubs
and other plants do you want to keep? Which can be transplanted,
and which need to stay in place?
Next is the design process. Each design is unique,
and is based on your tastes and what you want your landscaping
to accomplish. Are you hoping to increase the privacy of your
house and yard? Do you want an outdoor cooking and dining area,
or a pond or garden? The possibilities are almost endless. For
more, see the Design
page.
After creating
your custom design, we prepare your yard for hardscaping
(for example, stonework, woodwork, paving stones, boulders
or water features). We use great care to protect any
existing plants you want to keep.
Once the hardscape is in place, we prepare
the soil for planting. We begin with healthy, vigorous
nursery stock, hand selected by us, to ensure a beautiful
plant that will grow and thrive.
How long does the process take? It will
depend on the size and complexity of your project. A small
area that needs initial cleanup, soil prep, minimal hardscapes
and modest planting can be done in one or two weeks. A
larger project may take from two weeks to two months,
depending on access, complexity and cooperation of the
weather. On grand scale projects or projects with larger
budgets, we may break the project into practical phases
spread out over one or two seasons.
